The Peterborough Community Theatre is pleased to offer Audio Description (AD) devices for the visually impaired. The service provides descriptive narration of key visual elements via personal headsets, which is then inserted within the natural pauses in dialogue to help low-vision viewers to better understand the story.
Key visual elements are those which viewers with vision loss would ordinarily miss and include action, costumes, gestures, facial expressions, scene changes, and onscreen text. We have four headsets that provide audio description; please inquire at the ticket counter upon arrival.
For the hearing impaired, we offer Assistive Listening Devices (ALDs), available at the ticket counter, as well as open-captioning on request (when available)*.
Please note that not all movies feature audio descriptions for the visually impaired, or open-captioning for the hearing impaired. Shows that feature audio description or open-captioning labels will be clearly marked. If you have questions or need assistance, our employees are here to help!
All equipment for the hearing and visually impaired is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
*If a movie features open-captioning, PCT will run it as such when a request is made to management a minimum of one hour before the scheduled show time. All requests must be made via phone (603-554-7999), text (603-554-7999), or email. If you do not receive a confirmation to your request, that means it was not received. Please be sure to provide your confirmation upon your arrival at the theater.
